A Diary Entry: The Most Crooked Street in U.S.

February 17, 2018 Dear Diary,           Today, I went on the most crooked street in America. It is located in San Francisco, California. I went on vacation with my mom because it is a four day weekend, so we decided to come here to see my aunt and uncle. We went into the city to go sightseeing. We went to Pier 39, and saw all sorts of things, but the most interesting thing I saw was Lombard Street.           At first, I thought, "What could be so interesting about this exact street that it is famous?" The a lot roads of San Francisco are very interesting. Since the city is in a very mountainous area, some of the streets were very steep, and were fun to go up and down on, if you were in a car (Luckily, I didn't have to walk up any of those). I looked at the map I got, and a section of Lombard street was labeled "Most Crooked Street", and on the map, the road was zig-zagging. I was confused about why the street looked like that o...

A Great Fantasy Series: The Grisha Trilogy

Image
Currently, I am reading the book Siege and Storm . It is the second book of The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. The books in this series are Shadow and Bone , Siege and Storm , and Ruin and Rising . I recommend this series to anyone who loves fantasy with romance in it. Anyone who wants to read this series might get a little confused with what is happening, so I will explain the basics of the world and the beginning plot in this post, hoping that it will help readers of this series. This series mainly takes place in Ravka, a country in this fantasy world. There are nations called Shu Han, and Fjerda that are next to Ravka, and multiple places farther out from Ravka, and across the sea. At the borders, there is always fighting going on. None of the story has taken place in Shu Han or Fjerda yet, so I don't know much about them. As for the magic part to this world, it's not really considered magic by the people of this world. They call it the...

My Life: In Photos

Image
One day during the summer, I was outside filling my bird feeder when I heard a rapid pecking sound. Immediately , I knew what was causing it. A woodpecker! I thought excitedly. Even though they live in my area, I rarely hear them, or see them. However, this day was different. In the tree I was standing right next to was a woodpecker. I quickly and quietly took out my phone, and took this picture. . Later, I looked at a book of birds, and I identified that the woodpecker I saw was called a downy woodpecker. I love to see new birds, and observe them. This woodpecker didn’t seem scared of people. It clearly saw me, but didn’t fly away. When I showed my parents the woodpecker, it still didn’t fly away. I was interested by my observations, so I wrote about them in my journal. As time went by, I continued to write about interesting things I saw in nature, and I still have the journal that I wrote all these things in, so I can look back at them. ...

My Life: The Playlist

Out there in the world , there is a song for everyone, whether it's the lyrics that connect to you or the beat of the instruments. This week's post is a playlist of 5 songs that connect to my life. My Playlist: 1. Counting Stars by OneRupublic                                                           Link                  This song connects to me because it talks about never giving up. Not all of the lyrics talk about that, but there are some parts that I can connect to. When I have projects or assignments for school that are really hard or long and I just don’t want to do them, I don’t completely give up no matter what. I always persevere t...

A Story: Part 2

This is the 2nd part to the story (which I don’t have a title to yet) I started writing. Click here for part 1 of the story. This is also for the blog post assignment I have for school. What were the chances that nothing good would come out of this? Evan thought with a sigh as he collapsed into the plush chair. “That was a bit cruel,” Rina said, standing by the window. He chuckled and said, “How else was I suppose to find out?” She stood there for a moment and then spoke up. “Are you going to do it?” A hint of worry was in her voice. “Do I have a choice?” There was an awkward moment of silence. “Listen Rina, I can’t really decide whether I go or not so…” The summon was from the very top, so he either goes, or he goes against his will. “You have to be careful.” She said, commandly. “Of course I’ll be careful. What will you ever do without me?” Evan has been taking care of Rina for as long as he could remember. They weren’t actually siblings, but they have live toget...

My Winter Break: The Sugar Factory

Image
During winter break, I went to a very interesting restaurant. It was called the Sugar Factory. It was my first time going there, but my dad had been there once before. When I entered the Sugar Factory, I was stunned. There was a whole shop full of candy, most of them I have never seen before. There was also a lot of people there, but my family had made a reservation, so we didn’t have to wait for a table. On the menu, there were a lot of drink options. There were these drinks called “Goblets” which are very big, and were in all sorts of interesting flavors. We didn't get one because we thought we would never finish it. I had looked at the menu beforehand, so I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to get. On the menu, there was breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals, so you could get anything you wanted. I decided to get the red velvet pancakes… for dinner. I really wanted some pancakes for dinner, and I really didn’t want anything else. I also got a class...

A Story: Part One

Hi, I got a idea for a story that I can write, so I am going to post little parts of it once in a while. If you like the story, then I can post it more often. I don’t have a title for it yet (but when I do, I will change the post title). The moment Evan heard the clopping of horses’ hooves on the cracked stone pavement, he jumped up from his worn down plush chair. Who could it be at this time? he thought. Soft, orange light of the summer’s sun poured in from the crack between the old, cream colored curtains. Everyone should be sitting down at their tables eating dinner. Evan was getting a strange vibe from his visitors. Surely enough, when he peeked through the curtains, he definitely saw some strange visitors. Two of them, both dressed in royal officer coats, but those were just for show.  However, what kind of show were they bringing to his home? They were tending to their horses at the end of the path. About 25 or 30 seconds before they get to the d...
