A Story: Part One

Hi, I got a idea for a story that I can write, so I am going to post little parts of it once in a while. If you like the story, then I can post it more often. I don’t have a title for it yet (but when I do, I will change the post title). The moment Evan heard the clopping of horses’ hooves on the cracked stone pavement, he jumped up from his worn down plush chair. Who could it be at this time? he thought. Soft, orange light of the summer’s sun poured in from the crack between the old, cream colored curtains. Everyone should be sitting down at their tables eating dinner. Evan was getting a strange vibe from his visitors. Surely enough, when he peeked through the curtains, he definitely saw some strange visitors. Two of them, both dressed in royal officer coats, but those were just for show.  However, what kind of show were they bringing to his home? They were tending to their horses at the end of the path. About 25 or 30 seconds before they get to the d...

A Movie Review: The Outsiders (Spoiler Alert!)

The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is one of my favorite books that I have ever read. I also enjoyed the movie very much, but just like with other movies based on novels, I wasn't fully satisfied with it. The movie has a run time of 1 hour and 31 minutes, which I think is okay. A common thing I see between books, and movies based on books is that there is always something missing. That is what makes the movies, based on books, I watch just being a shy bit away from making me fully happy. The first thing I feel is missing is at the beginning. In the book, Ponyboy introduces the gang: Sodapop, Darry, Dally, Steve, Two-bit, and Johnny. However, in the movie, they were not introduced at all, so we didn't really know much about any of them. People who have read the book might understood the characters without them having to be introduced, but not everyone would have read the book, or remembered while watching the movie. For me, it wasn't much of an issue, having I just r...

The Holidays: A List of Gifts and Not For Me Gifts

Image
As the holidays are just around the corner, there is one things that always comes to one’s mind: Gifts. Gifts is what makes everyone look forward to the holidays. We are excited about what we will be getting from family and friends. However, though dreaming about what you are going to get is on the easy side, deciding what to give to your family and friends is not. You never want to give someone something they don’t even like or don’t use, it’s just a waste of money. Usually during this time, I make a list of things I want to get and then email or text it to my relatives, making it easier for them to find gifts, and also making it easier on me, since I know what I will most likely get, and won’t be pondering about it for 95% of my day, everyday until I get my gifts. That’s why this post is going to be my list of gifts I really want. Also, sometimes people might want to get you more than what you asked for, so I also made a list of want not to get for me. This also makes it easier f...

Perseverance: The Only Way

Image
The quote “Success is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration.”  tells us the truth of getting something done. You can’t just think of something awesome, and then lay back and dream about it. To get anything to be done, you have to get up and do the work yourself. Be determined to fulfill your dream. Don’t look at it for 5 seconds and then abandon ship because it looks too hard or may take a long time. Everything is hard in someway and if you can make it through that, then you can do something that not everyone can do. People might hide from things because they are afraid of trying to do something new or challenging. Being confident and having a lot of perseverance is what makes up role models and good people. Even now, people look up to you, most likely your little siblings, friends or students in lower grade levels, and they might want to be like you. Having a lot of perseverance leads to many good things in life, like being able to get things done and getting a ...
